SOMPO Asia Holds Inaugural Regional Live Virtual Townhall

24 Apr 2020 | Corporate Leadership

Regional CEO addresses more than 2,000 employees in 14 locations across Asia

Singapore – (21 April 2020) – For the very first time, SOMPO Asia held a Live Virtual Townhall with more than 2,000 employees connecting through a web conferencing tool from 16 offices in 14 locations across Asia Pacific. Regional CEO, Daniel Neo wanted to use this platform to deliver words of assurance to all employees in this unprecedented difficult period facing the evolving challenges of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Covering a high-level business overview with FY2019 and YTD2020 performances, Mr. Neo was confident of the regional group maintaining a strong trajectory to achieve its FY2020 targets, despite the current global economic climate. However, this would not be possible without the collective effort of all the group subsidiaries. Mr. Neo urged everyone to remain positive and competitive to get through these trying times together. Employees’ wellbeing, high quality customer experience, and evolving work culture integrating improved processes are the top 3 priorities for the region.

“SOMPO is utmost concerned about our employees’ security, health and wellbeing within Asia. With a peace of mind, we want them to continue providing our internal and external stakeholders with the best quality of services and solutions in a timely manner,” said Mr. Neo. “Every challenge is an opportunity. Now is the best time to evaluate our business processes and capabilities; to think about further incorporating technology and innovative methods to enhance our usual work routines, especially for colleagues in countries that have implemented telecommuting. We should prepare ourselves for the ‘new normal’.”

Employees were given a chance to submit questions digitally for the regional CEO to address live during the hour-long Live Virtual Townhall. Some of the common concerns raised by the employees revolved around the COVID-19 impact on SOMPO as a business; new products and services; employee engagement and development; and evolving working styles.

This new initiative has proven to be a success with many employees providing positive feedback, requesting for more Live Virtual Townhalls in the near future. Nothing can be more motivating and reassuring than knowing that the senior management is constantly looking out for them and addressing their concerns.
